Janina has acquired varied work experiences in the media ranging from reviewing film scripts in the ARTE feature films office and creating stop motion animation films to assisting directors on soap opera, music and comedy television sets for Bavaria Film, RTL and Sat1. Before undertaking graduate studies, she most recently worked on news and documentary programmes as a producer for ZDF German television in London. Janina holds a B.A. in Film, Radio and Television Studies with First Class Honours from Canterbury Christ Church University and an M.Phil. in Screen Media and Cultures with Distinction from the University of Cambridge. Janina’s current research, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, focuses on the stylised representation of marginal urban spaces in cinema. Concurrently she explores the construction of cinematic spaces in reality, specifically simulations of urban space based on cinematic models.
